Gail Hampton Spurlock Obituary

Condlolences go out to SFA member Dianne Haugen on the recent death of her father, Gail Spurlock. Dianne was kind enough to pass along the following obituary:

A gathering was held Jan. 12, at Island Lakes Clubhouse in Eugene, Oregon for Gail Hampton Spurlock of Eugene, who died Jan. 2 of age-related causes. He was 94. He was born April 30, 1913, in Mountain Grove, Mo., to Joe and Harriet McAntire Spurlock. He lived his early years in Montana. He married Helen Lyons on Aug. 10, 1935, in Eugene.

Spurlock graduated from Eugene High School in 1933. He served in the Oregon National Guard. He worked as a planerman at Eugene Planing Mill for 46 years, retiring in 1979.

Survivors include two daughters, Dianne Haugen and Elizabeth Ellison, both of Eugene; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. His wife died June 17, 1989, and a grandson died previously.

Note - Gail was the Great grandson of John B. Spurlock, 26 Jan 1860-30 Jul 1924.
